Privacy notice

Last updated October 7, 2026. This notice covers avlml.org, operated by the Asheville Institute for Memory and Longevity (AIML, also AVLML), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Mills River, North Carolina.

What we collect

When you contact us or fill out an interest form, we collect what you enter — such as your name, email, institution, role, and message — along with the page you came from and campaign tags in the link you followed (for example, “utm_source”). This tells us which articles and outreach brought you here.

When you browse, Google Analytics records anonymous usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and how you arrived. It uses cookies to do this.

How we use it

We use form information only to respond to you and to coordinate AIML’s education programs, studies, and grant partnerships you’ve asked about. We use analytics to understand which pages and outreach are useful and to measure our nonprofit Google Ad Grants advertising.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Where it’s kept

Form submissions are stored in AIML’s Google Workspace account and are accessible only to AIML staff. Recruitment contacts are kept separate from research data: nothing you submit here is added to any research study dataset. Taking part in a study is a separate process with its own consent.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics using the notice shown on your first visit, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser. You can also use Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

To see, correct, or delete the information you’ve sent us, email info@avlml.org.
